Hey um in the pattern link I can't see the arrow directions for the black checkered section (they are both black D:) do you think you could fix this?

sadly, it isn't my pattern. But if you like, I can download and edit the knot pattern for something without black so you can see the arrows? It'll take me a couple days to work on it since I'm busy, but if you don't mind waiting I can have it up before Monday :)

it took me a lot of reading and pre-planning to figure it out. I used two tutorials on how to read the patterns. This one: [link] and this one for more than two-coloured alphas [link]
however, the rainbow one I did for my bff, was technically a "two coloured" alpha pattern, I just had different colours as the "background" string.

For this one pictured here, I had 16 strings of black thread, and one long green one (I start it 3x longer than the black ones, but I always have to add more anyways...) basically, it's just forward knots, and backward knots, except the green one (for instance) is used across ALL 16 strings, every time. Kinda like ...well, weaving it back and forth.
The most helpful tip is: be careful, pay attention!! xD ((I was attempting the word "llama" and forgot the second L ...and didn't realize it until I'd finshed the first A T_T haha))

I thought alpha was gonna be hard, but once I figured it out, it was easier. It's just harder for me to figure out how to do the multi-coloured ones... I'm not good at swaping out strings xD
if there's anything else you have questions on, feel free to ask!
